Crane Wishes Take Flight at the Portland Rose Festival!
Crane Wishes Take Flight at the Portland Rose Festival!
As Alaska Airlines prepares to spread its wings to iconic new international destinations like London, Rome, and beyond, we are celebrating this incredible milestone by celebrating with a Tokyo-inspired theme for our 2026 Rose Festival Float!
In Japanese culture, the crane is a mystical bird believed to live for 1,000 years, serving as a timeless symbol of good fortune, longevity, and peace.
To honor this journey, we have set a heartfelt goal to collect 1,000 handmade origami cranes—a Senbazuru— to send a powerful message of luck and prosperity as our hometown airline connects the Pacific Northwest to the world.
Don't let your good vibes stay grounded! We’re looking for "frequent fliers" to —help our float reach its 1,000-crane milestone.
How you can help:
Write your wish for Alaska Airlines on a square of origami paper.
Fold it into a crane (follow our step-by-step guide!).
Drop it off in-person Alaska Airlines Cargo or the Portland Airport Customer Service Counter by May 15th, to see it displayed in the Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 6th.
If you’re based outside the area, please mail your cranes to:
Alaska Airlines Air Cargo
Attn: Cranes for Portland
7904 NE Air Cargo Road
Portland, OR 97213
Let’s reach our 1,000-crane milestone together and send a powerful message of luck and prosperity to our hometown airline!
